56. Go to a shooting range, shoot guns
Went to Wade's over in Bellevue last Saturday with Jason and Paul. They've got a large range of weapons for rental; we ended up shooting a 9mm, a .45 and a .357. The above target was my first round with the .45; not at all impressive. Yes, there are five holes on the paper. Yes, there are eight rounds in the clip. S'nice.
Anyway, of the three guns, the 9mm was definitely the easiest to shoot. But over an hour, I think I'd ultimately prefer the .45, with practice. Although the .357 kicked out quite a nice little fireball with each shot.
Here's the last target shot with the .45, by the way (two clips, thus the large volume of bullet holes--we were running low on targets):
77. Go to a fancy fireworks show
It's been a long time since I went to a big fancypants fireworks show. Tuesday, after getting off work, Mike and I headed down to Gasworks Park for Washington Mutual's Red White and WaMu show.
Aside from being just generally pretty to look at, it just boggles the mind, the science and physics behind designing the fireworks themselves, and choreographing a show like that. I'd seen the "smiley face" fireworks and the heart shaped ones, but I'd never seen the three dimensional cube shaped ones. Highly impressive.
One week, another two down. Not doing too bad for July, I think.
